Karla Becker 

 

Karla enjoys the meditative aspect of painting.  Her inspiration comes from India and its spirituality.  This spirituality is a universal energy, in which anyone can tap into to realize their potential.  Her teachers include Susan Hodgin, Chitra Ramanathan, Carol Tharp-Perrin, Sandy Ezell, Farideh Peacock, Carol Skinner, and James Viewegh.


Karla enjoys painting with acrylic and mixed media, including glitter, sand and objects from nature, such as leaves that she collected when she visited India.  She is skilled in mandala painting and studies with the renowned mandala artist, Paul Heussenstamm in Los Angeles.  In the last year, Karla began painting landscapes in oil. 


She has exhibited her work at the Mosaic Art Gallery, at the Harrison Center on studio opening nights, and at the Indianapolis Art Center.  She won a faculty award at the Indianapolis Art Center's Student Show.  She has work currently on exhibit at Lather Hair Salon and at a Peaceful Path Center.  


She has an M.S. degree in Education and a B.A. degree in English from Indiana University.  She is currently a student at the University of Indianapolis in the Master's program in Art.
